pigeon appeared in 3000?[edit]

The first domesticated bird was the rock pigeon, appearing in Greece, Egypt and Mesopotamia around 3 000

shouldn't it be 3000 BC? --Golden.2007 (talk) 02:37, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Clive Roots source[edit]

The Clive Roots source 'Domestication (Greenwood Guides to the Animal World)' is used several times in this article and in my view should be replaced by a better, more scholarly source or sources. The Roots book appears to be aimed at children - the series also includes 'animal parents' and 'bamboo bears', and the only academic qualification I could find for the author is that he was a zoo director.Dialectric (talk) 05:39, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Replaced all but the fish and bird. Information was probably accurate enough (considering the difficulty in dating), but the new references should be much more scholarly. AIRcorn (talk) 02:35, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
